Since its opening in 1951, The Corning Museum of Glass has inspired people to see glass in a new light. The Museum has grown exponentially over the years. Its history is a story of innovation, perseverance and immense community and corporate support. Today, the Museum’s scholarship and outreach is felt around the world.

The Museum has grown into a collecting, exhibiting, teaching, and research facility. The Corning Museum of Glass is now home to the world's largest collection of glass, containing over 50,000 objects representing 3,500 years of glass history. The Museum and Library actively acquire materials, curate special exhibitions and conduct extensive research. The renovated facilities annually welcome almost 460,000 visitors from around the globe.

Corning Museum of Glass

From children looking for an adventure to artists looking for inspiration, there's something for everyone at The Corning Museum of Glass. Explore 3,500 years of glassmaking history in the world's largest collection of glass, featuring 45,000 pieces of classic and contemporary glass art. At the Hot Glass Show, watch live, narrated, glassmaking demonstrations, and see master glassblowers create stunning pieces before your eyes. Flameworking demos are also offered throughout the day.

What I like about it

The only thing better than watching the wonder of glassmaking is trying it yourself! Make Your Own Glass in short, daily workshops: choose from fused picture frames and suncatchers, sandblasted drinking glasses, flameworked beads, pulled-glass flowers, or delicate blown ornaments.

Rockwell Museum

Our diverse, unique collection, gifted by Bob and Hertha Rockwell, serves as the base of our work, and provides inspiration for our innovative programs. Our mission is to use our collection to stimulate and engage our visitors, both within the Museum and within the greater Corning community.

West End Gallery

West End Gallery is a family owned and operated fine arts gallery celebrating 47 years in business on historic Market Street in Corning, NY. Visit the Gallery in person and online to discover a small-town gallery with world-class talent! Visitors will find a diverse selection of fine art created by more than 50 exceptional professional artists, primarily residing in the beautiful Finger Lakes region! The Gallery exhibits artwork in a variety of styles and subjects by emerging and nationally known artists.

What I like about it

All glass is made locally. Upon receiving a warm welcome from a friendly, knowledgeable staff, guests are invited to wander through two floors of gallery space at their leisure.
